On 31 August 2020, the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) issued Announcement No. (IUL)220-TSS/INDIV/2020/12, further extending the deadline for submission of the 2019 annual report and donations statement of charitable organisations registered with MIRA under the Business Profit Tax (BPT) Act.

The new deadline for submission of the annual report and donations statement is 30 November 2020. Organisations which fail to submit the report and statement by the deadline will be removed from the list of approved charitable organisations. Approved charitable organisations are exempt from BPT, and donations made by a taxpayer to such organisations are deductible in calculating the taxpayer’s BPT liability.

The deadline was initially extended to 31 August 2020 in July, via Announcement No. (IUL)220-TSS/INDIV/2020/10.
